The Community Investment Councils and Financial Review Council are an intersection of community accountability and grantmaking.
Financial Review Council
The Financial Review Council (FRC) provides financial document and fiscal health review, recommendations and monitoring for United Way of Waco-McLennan County grant applicants and funded partners. The FRC helps ensure donor contributions are invested effectively in high-impact local programs by applying and supporting a high standard of financial evaluation and accountability. During the grant application process, the FRC supports the Community Investment Councils (CICs) by reviewing and scoring the financial aspects of the grant applications.
Members begin their service by learning about United Way of Waco-McLennan County’s (UWWMC) mission, vision, and values, and strategic goals for community impact and engagement. They orient to the Impact Framework and priority areas that will inform the application review process, and are trained on the grant application and review process, with emphasis on financial review and monitoring.
Community Investment Council
The Community Investment Councils (CICs) provide grant application review and funding recommendations for United Way of Waco-McLennan County. The CICs are responsible for ensuring donor contributions are invested effectively in local programs committed to high-impact outcomes. There are four Community Investment Councils, one to align with a different programmatic focus area: Education, Health, Financial Stability, and Safety Net Services.
